CEIIA DEVELOPS AND TESTS STRUCTURES AND EQUIPMENT FOR SUBSEA AND SPACE ENVIRONMENTS.

The need to develop further knowledge about the ocean, to ensure a better surveillance and an efficient and sustainable management of the human activities at sea, and to increase the observation of the Earth, are among the most important innovation and technology development drivers for the coming years. This goal can be achieved sooner with new down-to-Earth applications in Space field which will require strong data processing capabilities.

The challenges arising from the so-called NewSpace field is an opportunity for Portugal to advance in the Space industry, taking full advantage of its geographical position and focusing initially in maritime surveillance, Earth observation and communications between small satellites and ground stations.   

The solutions developed by CEiiA on Ocean and Space domains cover a wide range of applications for the Industry (renewable energy, aquaculture, oil&gas) and the Marine Science (environmental monitoring, deep sea exploration, maritime surveillance, pollution detection). Therefor, the skills offered by CEiiA in Space and Ocean areas are focused in structural analysis and data processing capabilities.
