CEIIA CHOSEN AS CASE-STUDY AT THE FIRST EVER FLYING ELECTRIC VEHICLE SUMMIT

All around the world activities related to hybrid or even pure electric flying vehicles are taking place, and CEiiA and the Portuguese industry are leading this revolution.

CEiiA has attended the 1st Flying Electric Vehicle Summit, which has taken place in Geneva on the 7th of February 2018, having been selected to present its ‘Flow.me’ project, at the main session, by the Scientific Reviewing Committee of the 1st Flying Electric Vehicle Summit, from a large number of abstracts that have been submitted as response to the call for papers. The invited speakers are mandatorily “recognized for their expertise in the field”, explained the summit’s organization.

CEiiA’s all-in-one mobility vision targets seamless integration of horizontal with vertical mobility, including both the vehicle development and its integration into an urban mobility services ecosystem and platform.

Flow.me is a modular mobility solution which combines an Electric Vehicle (EV) with a drone, in a device composed by 3 main elements: i) an electric skate; ii) a cabin for cargo or passengers; and iii) a drone. These 3 elements are to be connected in real-time to an all-in-one integrated mobility management system – mobi.me® –, allowing its application on several mobility services integrated across the urban domain, starting with the challenges associated with urban logistics and evolving towards more futuristic scenarios which shall include human transportation at the urban level.

Particularly, both the skate and the cabin are to be based upon BE EV, an interactive vehicle with autonomous functions which was designed by CEiiA to be used as a mobility service integrator, allowing for real-time connectivity with other devices, users and city assets (infrastructure), within the mobi.me® environment.

“Even though it is unlikely that flow.me will be ferrying passengers around before the end of this decade, the grand vision behind it will help us start addressing major technological, regulatory and legal challenges, which need to be timely discussed and defined before a leap forward can be undertaken. For that reason, a building block approach targeting developments at the systems level will be purposed and addressed for the development of flow.me.”, explains Helena Silva, CEiiA CTO.

The future of urban mobility is electric, autonomous, flexible, on-demand and makes full use of the urban transportation space.

About FEVS

FEVS, as the World Flying Electric Vehicle Summit, aims at providing a premier & high quality global platform to foster exchange of views and development of synergies between players in the field.

The event covered all aspects of flying electric vehicles, i.e. from drones to larger commercial airliners fapplications which range from the transport goods to persons.
