OVERVIEW
Portugal was the first country in the world to deploy a fully interoperable and integrated nationwide network of EV charging stations. This network, managed by the mobi.me system, is operating since 2010.
The Portuguese EV charging network counts with +1,400 charging stations from different manufacturers and four different operators and allows any user to access any charging station, regardless of its operator.
The mobi.me system provides a business intelligence solution, an operational support platform and the user interfaces (web and mobile). Furthermore, and in order to allow the interoperability of the network, the mobi.me system provides a clearing house solution.
Additionally, mobi.me is connected in real-time with the electric grid, allowing for the calculation of the GHG emissions associated with the electricity used to charge the EV batteries. Real-time information is provided to the users, operators and public entities.
