OVERVIEW
IFAR, the International Forum for Aviation Research, is the world´s only aviation research establishment network.
Founded on a voluntary, non-binding basis, IFAR aims to connect research organisations worldwide, to enable the information exchange and communication on aviation research activities and to develop among its members a shared understanding on the challenges faced by the global aviation research community. IFAR develops views and recommendations, e.g. the IFAR Framework Document on Future Research Strategies, outlining global research objectives and technological opportunities for use by its members, and facilitates opportunities for networking and partnerships. The focus of IFAR is on non-competitive aviation R&D related to global technical challenges such as those pertaining to emissions, noise, security, safety, efficient operations and steps to reduce the impact of aviation on climate and the environment.
CEIIA AND IFAR
CEiiA joined IFAR in 2014 during the 5th Summit that took place in China, joining an entity with 25 other members from all over the world. IFAR represents an opportunity not only to have an easier access to the most relevant research establishments on aviation but also to leverage the knowledge and the skills of CEiiA. In fact, IFAR allows CEiiA to get acquainted in advance with the priorities in aviation R&D and to participate in the definition of a global strategy for this industry.
YOUNG RESEARCHERS NETWORK
Beyond the scientific and technical activities, IFAR does also invest on the education and promotion of young scientists and engineers. Therefore, IFAR created the Young Researchers Network, a group that gathers regularly to discuss in a disruptive an integrated way the future of aviation. CEiiA participates in this group.
